Multilingual games

A multilingual game maker: one game, many languages

Build your game once and let it speak 20 languages. You write the idea in your own language, Claude translates every text in the game, and players switch the language with one tap – in the browser or in the HTML5 export.

Build a multilingual gameQuiz · Small: price of 80 credits

You see the price before anything is built. If a build fails technically, the credits reserved for it are credited back.

Games that travel well

Quizzes and stories carry the most text, so they gain the most from extra languages.

Who needs a game in several languages

A game is one of the few gifts and teaching tools that works across a language barrier without any effort from the player. These are the situations where extra languages pay off most:

  • Families across countries: one birthday game that the grandparents read in Spanish and the cousins in German.
  • Language classes: the same quiz in the language being learned and in the pupils’ own language, side by side.
  • International teams and events: a welcome quiz for a conference where half the room prefers another language.
  • Small creators: a short game for your newsletter or booth that reaches readers in more than one market.

How it works

Your game is built in a main language. You choose it under “Idea”, and it costs nothing extra. In the optional “Languages” step of the builder you tick any further languages you want. Claude then translates all texts of the game and stores the translations together with the game.

  • Every game: title, tagline, intro, win and lose messages, hints and the names of the hero, enemies and collectibles.
  • Quizzes: each question, all four answer options and the explanation after the answer.
  • Story adventures: every scene, every choice and the ending lines.
  • World projects: names of resources, buildings, districts, characters and the mission texts.

The game page shows which languages a game is playable in. Inside the game, players switch language with a language switcher, and a game opens in the visitor’s browser language whenever it has that language. The buttons and menus of the player exist in all the languages listed below, so nothing stays half-translated in the interface.

The 20 languages

Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Português (Brasil), Nederlands, Polski, Svenska, Dansk, Norsk bokmål, Suomi, Čeština, Română, Türkçe, العربية, हिन्दी, 日本語, 한국어, 简体中文.

What extra languages cost

The price depends on how much text the game has, so a mini game is cheap to translate and an epic open world is not. The table shows the price per extra language in credits. From 4 extra languages you get 20% off the total, and you can add up to 10 extra languages to one game. Extra languages are part of the Starter plan and above; the Free plan builds in the main language only.

Price per extra language, in credits

Medium40
Large70
World120
Epic300

You see the total, including every language you ticked, before you confirm the order. Nothing is charged for languages you did not select.

One file, all languages: the HTML5 export

When you export a game as HTML5, all translations travel inside the single file, and a language picker appears as soon as there are two or more languages. That makes it easy to put a game on your own website or send it to a partner abroad. Read more on the HTML5 game maker page.

Ideas that use more than one language

  • a vocabulary quiz where each question appears in the learner’s language and the target language
  • a welcome game for an international team offsite, in the three languages of the room
  • a bedtime story adventure that cousins in different countries can read together
  • a trade-show mini game with a language switch for visitors
  • a city-themed quiz for tourists, built once and offered in five languages

New to the builder? The guide make a game without coding walks through every step. For quiz content, see the quiz maker.

Your multilingual game in five steps

  1. Pick genre and size

Quizzes and story adventures are the best fit because they contain the most text.

  2. Write your idea in the main language

Describe topic, audience and mood in one or two sentences. This language is free.

  3. Tick the extra languages

In the “Languages” step, choose the languages your players need. From 4 extra languages the bundle discount applies.

  4. Check the total

The price shows every language you selected. Change your mind? Untick a language and the price updates.

  5. Build, test and share

Play the game once in each language, then send the link. Players switch language inside the game.

FAQ

Do I pay extra for the main language?

No. The language you write your idea in is the main language and is part of the normal build price. Only additional languages cost credits.

How many languages can one game have?

The main language plus up to 10 extra languages, chosen from the 20 supported languages.

Can players change the language while playing?

Yes. The game has a language switcher, and the exported HTML5 file shows a language picker whenever it contains two or more languages.

Is the website itself multilingual?

The website comes in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. That is separate from the games, which can use any of the supported game languages.

Are the translations perfect?

No machine translation is. They are solid for everyday text, but we recommend a native speaker reads important games before you hand them to a class or customers.
