Make a platformer: your hero, your levels

A knight in a castle, a fox in a snowy town, an astronaut on the moon: describe the hero and the world, and the AI invents enemies, collectibles and texts while our engine builds levels that we check for beatability automatically. You playtest, tweak and share the link.

You see the price before anything is built. If a build fails technically, the credits reserved for it are credited back.

What makes a platformer feel good

Whether a platformer is fun is decided in milliseconds. Designers call it game feel, and three small tricks do most of the work. They are built into our engine, so you never have to think about them:

  • Coyote time: if you run off a ledge and press jump a hair too late, the jump still works. It feels fair even though physics would disagree.
  • Jump buffering: press jump just before landing and the hero jumps the instant it touches down. No button press gets lost.
  • Variable jump height: a tap makes a small hop, a long press a big leap, so you can thread precise gaps.

Levels that can always be beaten

Levels are built from a random seed but by strict rules: gaps and heights always stay within jumping range. Patrolling enemies, moving platforms, coins and checkpoints are added so nobody has to restart from scratch after one slip. A flag marks the end of each level, and on request the last level ends with a boss fight.

The AI chooses pace, difficulty, enemy density and whether there is a double jump, all to match your idea. Write “for a six-year-old” and the game slows down; write “for players with fast reflexes” and it speeds up.

How big should it be?

Size and price for a platformer (without extras)
SizeWhat you getPrice
Mini1 level50 credits
Small3 levels + menu125 credits
Medium5–8 levels, power-ups315 credits
Large15+ levels, story, saving875 credits

A platformer has a slightly higher genre factor than a runner because levels, enemies and physics are more work. In return you get a game you can finish: not endless running, but levels with a beginning and an end.

Controls for every device

On a computer you move with the arrow keys and jump with the space bar or the up arrow. For phones, add touch controls (10 credits) and on-screen buttons appear. Controllers work with the gamepad extra (10 credits). Everything runs in the browser, with nothing to install.

A platformer makes a great gift, because the message appears at the end of the last level. See birthday game for ideas. If you prefer to just keep running, look at the endless runner under make your own game.

Your platformer in five steps

  1. Choose “Platformer”

Tap the card with the goal flag on the first screen of the builder.

  2. Set the size

Mini for a short round; medium, with power-ups, for about half an hour of play.

  3. Pick a style

Pixel for retro looks, Pastel for children, Neon for a night-time feel.

  4. Controls and extras

Touch for phones, gamepad for the couch, sound and saving as you like.

  5. Describe hero and world

One sentence with hero, place and goal, such as “a penguin searches the ice palace for its hat”. Then build and run.

What it costs

  • Creator: €24.99 a month, 900 credits – enough for about 7 games at the Small size.

FAQ

Can I draw my own levels?

Not yet. A level editor is planned. Until then you steer length, difficulty and enemies through your description and the studio chat.

Is there a boss fight?

Yes, in the last level on request. Mention it in your idea, for example “a slime king waits at the end”.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, with the touch controls extra. Without it, the game is meant for a keyboard.

Can I use famous game characters?

No. Characters from other games, films and series are protected. Our filter detects them and suggests original heroes.
