playing.company opens its waitlist: an AI game maker that shows the price before you confirm

Pick a genre, describe an idea, see the total price in credits – then play and share the game with a link. The international launch is planned for January 12, 2027.

– playing.company, a browser-based game maker built with Anthropic’s Claude API, has opened the waitlist for its beta. Instead of facing a blank prompt box, people walk through five guided choices and see the total price in credits before they confirm anything. The beta is planned to start in German-speaking countries on December 8, 2026, followed by an international launch on January 12, 2027.

The idea is to make “I want to make a game” as concrete as ordering something you can picture. Users choose a genre, a size, a visual style and extras such as sound or a high-score table, then describe their idea in a sentence. Claude designs characters, levels and text as a structured game description, and the company’s own engine plays it in the browser – on phones, tablets and computers. No code is generated or run on the player’s device, and sharing works with a plain link: players need no download and no account.

There are 7 arcade genres, from endless runners and platformers to quizzes and branching story adventures, plus two larger world projects: a 2D builder with production chains and an Open World 3D city with vehicles, missions and a day–night cycle – without weapons and without violence against people. Personal touches such as a first name and a greeting at the end make games work as gifts, team quizzes or classroom exercises.

A game does not end at the build. An “Expand & optimise” area offers bigger or different versions, further languages (up to 10 on top of the main language), a remix at half the base price and a link with a printable greeting card for gifting. From the Creator plan, a game can be exported as an HTML5 package. Two boost options apply at build time: “Express build” moves a build forward in the queue, “Polish pass” sends the game through a second AI pass that checks balance, text and hints.

Pricing is designed to be transparent: the total price in credits is shown before you confirm, and if a build fails, the credits are returned. A free plan includes 40 credits a month – enough for one mini game – paid plans start at €9.99 a month, and credit packs without a subscription start at €9.99. Prices are in euros. Every game is labelled as AI-generated, visibly and in machine-readable form, in line with Article 50 of the EU AI Act, and a filter blocks well-known characters and brands at the input stage.

[Zitat Markus – zur Freigabe]

Suggested: “We show the price before you confirm, then we build. If you can describe a game in one sentence, you should be able to play it soon after – and know exactly what it cost.”
