Questions from journalists
What is playing.company?
A game maker in the browser. You choose genre, size, style and extras, describe the idea in one sentence, see the total price in credits and confirm. Then the AI model Claude builds the game; it is shared with a link.
Is the product live yet?
No. There is a waitlist. The website shows the flow in demo mode and real AI builds start with the beta. The launch in German-speaking countries is planned for 8 December 2026 and the international launch for 12 January 2027 – dates are planned, not promised.
How does pricing work?
Every game costs credits. You see the total price in credits before you confirm; if a build fails, the credits are returned. Credit prices are list prices: when demand is high, a build can temporarily cost more credits (at most 30 percent more), and the price shown then holds for 10 minutes. The euro prices of plans and packs do not depend on demand.
Does the AI write program code?
No. Claude produces a structured game description (data) that our own runtime plays in the browser. No AI-written code is executed on the player’s device.
Which AI is behind it?
Anthropic’s Claude, integrated through the Claude API. Optional extras such as music, voices and trailers are planned but not available at the moment; they would be produced by further services, labelled as AI-generated, and are described in the privacy policy.
How are games labelled?
Every game visibly shows that it is AI-generated; on the play page the statement is also machine-readable (EU AI Act, Article 50). With the HTML5 export, the visible label is kept.
How big can games get?
From Mini (one level, a few minutes) to “Epic”: 40–80 missions across several islands. Epic is low-poly 3D in the browser and violence-free, not console graphics; play time and build time are target values to be checked after the first live builds.
Which languages are available?
Game text is possible in 20 languages: the main language plus up to 10 extra languages per game. Translation is done by AI and can contain mistakes; proofreading is recommended.
Can the games be used commercially?
Commercial use is included from the Creator plan, not in the Free and Starter plans. Well-known brands and characters are blocked at the input stage.
What about youth protection and privacy?
Accounts start at age 16, content is meant for audiences aged 12 and up, and world projects are violence-free. Photos are not uploaded; a game becomes personal through first names and text. The website’s audience measurement works without cookies.
Are there test accesses for editors?
On request by email to the press contact. [Test access for editors – scope for approval]
